Cellulite has been a big problem for women for many, many years, and we have yet to come up with a cure for it. I have faith in the system though; someday we will be able to kiss our cellulite good bye forever, but until that day comes, we have to settle for temporary relief from it with creams, lasers, massages, machines, injections and plastic surgery! Do any of these cellulite removal techniques actually work though? Or are we just buying into the advertising we saw on TV last week?

Let’s go through each supposed cellulite “cure” and examine them, one by one to se if any of them come out valid or not.

  • Creams: A lot of these creams have come out recently, and there are more being made right now. The best selling creams available right now include Revitol, Murad, Dermed Celluliterx, Bliss Fat Girl Slim, Cellex C, and Cellulean. These creams all have great ingredients, and some are even made from all natural ingredients, but how deep into the skin’s layers does topical cream go? Cellulite rests below the layers of the skin and topical creams really only reach so far. These creams do provide some temporary tightening of the skin, but it only lasts so long.
  • Massages: If you get a massage from a licensed massage therapist, especially a deep tissue massage, it will increase circulation and lymphatic drainage, decrease muscle spasms and breaks down adhesions. Massage isn’t a cure for cellulite by any means, but it is the most relaxing way to reduce it!
  • Machines: There are a couple of devices used to reduce the look of cellulite out there, and they do a pretty good job of it as well, but they are more expensive than the above mentioned techniques. One device, call the Accent, was recently featured on the hit TV show, The Doctors, and when they had someone try it out on the show, the results were amazing. Sessions with the Accent machine are very expensive, with some running up to $2500! Still, if you can afford it, it is worth it. Other devices used are lasers such as the Tri Active laser, and Endermologie machines. These work great as well, but not as good as the Accent.
  • Plastic Surgery & Injections: There are no injections that last only one session with your plastic surgeon, so this form of cellulite removal can also cost quite a bit. There are fat transfer injections, Mesotherapy injections, Hydraform injections, and more are being developed all the time. When you are done with your regular sessions, you will still need to go back once a month for the rest of your life if you want to keep cellulite at bay. The only kind of plastic surgery that may work for cellulite removal is liposuction, but even this doesn’t have much of a shot at removing it altogether. Lipo is usually just for taking fat out of the body, not from the skin.
